Supported at Prince Philip Hospital as part of the Head’s Up hair loss service. The TV feature shows Danielle telling her story in her native Welsh language. She talks about hair loss, headwear, talking to children at her work about hair loss by using hair loss dolls,and the importance of the support she has gained from Emma and the Head’s up team.
Cancer Hair Care hairdressers Cath and Emma share their role in supporting patients via the Head’s Up service as well as creative ideas and tips for hair loss management and emotional management.

Cath and Emma are Cancer Hair Care specially trained hairdressers part of a large team in Wales who support patients across the Hywel Dda University Health Board who is the first Health Board in Wales to provide a comprehensive support service for chemotherapy-related hair loss.
Heads Up has been funded by Hywel Dda Health Charities (Carms and Ceredigion), the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, and the Withybush Hospital Cancer Day Unit Appeal (Pembs) since Jan 2024.
The initiative has been made possible thanks to the generosity of local communities.
Further funding has just been announced by Hywel Dda Health Charities and the Withybush Hospital Cancer Day Unit Appeal for the next two years (2026-27).
Hair loss can be one of the most distressing side effects of cancer treatment, and this service helps patients feel heard, supported and equipped with practical tools and advice.
It offers tailored support for every stage of the hair loss journey, including headwear options, brow and lash care, and guidance on new hair growth.
The service also provides training for nurses and local hairdressers, helping to build a community of informed professionals who can offer evidence-based support.
